Meniscal Tear

The most common symptom of a torn meniscus cartilage is pain. The meniscus is a cartilage in the knee located between the thigh and shinbones. It acts like a gasket, to cushion the bones from each other. The basic function of meniscus cartilage is shock absorption, knee stability, and additional nutrition of the surface cartilage.
Meniscal tears are most commonly caused by twisting or hyperflexion of the joint.

* Pain on the joint line in the area of the meniscus tear.

* The knee joint locks or gives way.

* Water on the knee.

Treatment & Prevation

* Building the thigh muscles to stabilize the knee.

* Stretching muscles attached to the knee before exercise.

* warming up before activity.

* wearing proper knee support.
