MCL Injury

The medial collateral ligament (MCL or tibial collateral ligament) is one of the four major ligaments of the knee. It is on themedial (inner) side of the knee joint in humans and other primates.Tear to the medial collateral ligament. while the lateral collateral ligament(LCL) is located on the outside of the knee. Injury to the MCL is more common than injury to the LCL.
 Twisting injury to the knee or a blow to the outside of the knee, often occurring in sports.The most common knee structure damaged in skiing is the medial collateral ligament, although the carve turn has diminished the incidence somewhat. MCL strains and tears are also fairly common in American football
